How to Decorate Your High School Reunion With School Spirit

How to Decorate Your High School Reunion With School Spirit

06/11/2018 By REUNION Gift Ideas and Party Supplies

High school reunions are a time when we can all get together and catch up with the friends we made as teenagers. They give us the chance to relive all those great times we had while waiting to officially grow up.

There’s always one major problem, which is that somebody is going to be responsible for setting it up. How do you even go about it all? How do you decorate?

In the area of decor, we can help. Allow us to offer some advice on class reunion decorations.

Photographs

The main thrill offered by class reunions is nostalgia. What better way to travel memory lane than with photographs, perhaps a few clips from a yearbook?

Maybe use some club photos, or pictures from prom to remind people of who they were, and maybe still are. Bring up all of the good times.

It might be interesting to put these pictures into a photo album and put it at one of the main tables so all the guests can look at it.

Alternatively, you could make a slideshow of the pictures. Accompany it with some music that was popular the year you graduated.

Banners and Balloons

No party would be complete without the balloons, and class reunion decorations are no exception. Go out and get some balloons and streamers in your school colors and start setting them up in the area where the party is being held. In some cases, this may be the school gym, but there are other venues as well.

Another idea would be to set up a banner. Banners are hit or miss when it comes to parties, with many people opting to use them and others choosing not to. In the case of high school reunions, they fit the occasion perfectly and would be an excellent way to pull everything together.

These may be tried and true ideas, but feel free to get creative with them. Maybe use a giant balloon as the banner, if possible.

The message could be made out of letters from school jackets or numbers from the backs of jerseys. Hang the cheerleading pom-poms from the ceiling so they’re level with the balloons, or whatever you feel like doing.

Balloon arches are always an interesting touch. How about one of those?

Celebrate the School

There are a lot of ways to do this, although it all comes down to the same concept, which is to use various pieces of school equipment, such as lettermen jackets, jerseys, trophies, club t-shirts, prized art projects, if you can get them. Try to celebrate the school, but also everybody in the school.

The Fine Art of Class Reunion Decorations

Ultimately, high school reunions are like any other celebration. It’s about getting lost in the moment.

The best parts of the reunion are going to be out of your control, and that’s okay. The entire point is to reminisce recapture all the joy and wonder of those days, if only for a while.

Don’t get caught up in the class reunion decorations and feel bad when not everything goes according to plan. Variety is the spice of life and improvisation is like melted cheese. Occasionally it doesn’t work, but usually, it improves things.
